The Utopian Open on March 18 - 19

The annual SFR 5 round tournament is happening at La Tienda in Eldorado on 18th  and 19th March.  Rounds are  Sat  10   1:30  and  5   and Sun  at  10  and    1:30. A half point bye can be had in any round if requested before the start of round 1.  There will be 2 sections  Open and Reserve (under 1500).  G/90 with a 5 second delay.  Entry is $30 for all players.  Send your check to Santa Fe Rooks,  84 Moya Road,  Santa Fe,  NM 87508.  Alternatively you could just send me an email to book your spot and then pay at the door IF you arrive before 9:45 on the 18th.  A late fee of $5 will be charged on entries received after Thursday 16th. Directions  Take I-25 and head N for 8 miles from Santa Fe.  Exit on the 285 signed for Clines Corners.  At the 2nd light go R into Eldorado.  The La Tienda Mall is immediately on the L  The building with a green roof is where we will play in the Performance Space

Rooks Action on February 25th

Our next event is at the South Side library in Santa Fe.  Play 5 rounds G/30 ;d5  Rounds are at 10:45   12   (lunch)   2   3:15   and  4:30.  Probably in 2 sections. Dual rated. Entry is $10.  Cash prizes based on entries.  To enter send your check for $10 to Santa Fe Rooks,  84 Moya Road,  Santa Fe,  NM 87508 or you could just email me at  jdjohnston100@gmail.com   to tell me you will be coming and then show up before the library opens at 10:30 to pay on the door

From downtown go way down Cerrillos.  Pass the Auto park then make a R on Jaguar drive.  Stay on it for 2 miles when the library will be on your R at the top of the hill.  From Abq. exit I-25 onto the 599 ring road.  Go R  at the 2nd light onto Airport.  Just after the golf course  make another R onto Country club.  The library will be on the L

Chess Con Sabor on March 4th

We are going to a brand new venue at the De Vargas Mall in Santa Fe.  We are hoping to run a tournament at the Sabor Peruano restaurant on the 1st Saturday of every month.  For  this 1st one we will have a rated uscf section AND  a non rated section.  Maybe a quad with 3 rounds G/60 ;d5.  Format will be subject to change if very few or very many players show up.  To enter send your check for $10 to Santa Fe Rooks,  84 Moya Road,  Santa Fe,  NM 87508 or you could just email me to reserve your place then pay at the door IF you arrive early.
